Unity in the Body of Christ

We are all given a “measure of faith” and the deciding factor to our successes and failures in life often revolve around what we do with the measure we are given. While the measure of faith given to one may be more or less than another…we all have God given gifts and talents that thrive on our level of faith and in turn our “faith walk”.  In Ephesians 4  it discusses the “Unity in the Body of Christ” . Verse 11-13 focuses on the fact that we were all given different gifts and talents as best decided by Lord…..some apostles, pastors, evangelists and teachers. Today some are PC literate, others mechanically inclined, some have the gift of public speaking while others possess the voice of an angel.  As we develop those gifts we mature, in maturity we learn to love ourselves and others, in love we come closer to Christ and being closer to Christ it is natural to live a “Christ like” life………and so shall the body grow.

In contrast, having a gift and not allowing it to grow through service to the Lord can destroy the unity and cause dissent ion within the body. Not just your body..but the Body of Christ. Friends and family members can’t understand how you can have a gift and not use it all the time. Others are jealous of your gift and are glad you don’t use it. But you must remember the gift you have received was a gift from the Lord…not to please… but to serve. Not for recognition but to help maintain unity in the Body of Christ through your particular gift.

So when you start to ask how? Why? Say this…

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–Ephesians 2:8
